At their meeting on Sunday, September 20, Kenwood’s Church Council approved a request from the Staff Parish Relations Committee to create a new part-time program staff position at Kenwood. The Minister of Congregational Life will have responsibility primarily for children’s and youth ministries as well as other areas in which the successful applicant is passionate and gifted. The position will begin in January 2010, and will be 20 hours per week.
The Council is excited about the possibilities this position has for continuing Kenwood’s ability to be faithful to God’s vision for us as a congregation. The position will be able to expand our ministries in these areas in significant and exciting ways. A final determination about funding the position will be made after gauging the response to our fall financial commitment campaign, Enough, which runs from October 18 through November 15. The position will require approximately $12-15,000 of additional operating income in 2010. If 40 of our giving units gave $25 more a month, that income would be generated.
