As we enter the season of Lent, we’ll be focusing on questions. There will be a question box in the sanctuary foyer where you can put your questions to God. But each week we’ll be asking a question of you as well. For worship on Sunday, March 13, think about these questions:
From where does temptation come?
How can I lean on God to avoid temptation?
Each one of us is called by God to serve. Many people find that hard to believe, because they think about call as something that happens to pastors or missionaries. But the Bible is clear that each of us has been uniquely gifted by God to serve in God’s world.
One of our roles as a church is to help people discover their gifts, and to do that we encourage everyone at Kenwood to take the basic four hour class on Spiritual Gifts Discovery. You will learn about the Biblical basis of spiritual gifts, what the spiritual gifts are, and through the use of an inventory, you will discover what YOUR gifts are.
The next Spiritual Gifts Discovery class at Kenwood will be held on Saturday, February 26, from 8 am until noon. To register, call or click here to e-mail the church office. Shirley Jernigan will be the facilitator.
Kenwood’s annual Leadership Retreat will be held Friday evening, January 21 and Saturday January 22 at the United Methodist Center in Glen Allen. The retreat is not just for Kenwood’s elected leaders, but for all who would like to think strategically about the congregation’s future. This year we will focus on how we form faith at Kenwood.

There will be no worship or other activities at Kenwood on Sunday 12/26 due to weather.
Join us for worship this Christmas Eve as we welcome the Christ Child with carols, candles and Holy Communion. This service will include a Christmas message with children, which will also be meaningful for adults. Kenwood’s Handbell Choir will play, and the Children’s Choir and Sanctuary Choir will sing anthems. Make this worship service a part of your Christmas tradition.
Join the Kenwood Children’s Ministries as they present Star of Wonder, a heavenly Christmas musical of hope, Sunday, Dec. 12, during the 11 a.m. worship service. Along the way you’ll meet such bright luminaries as Superstar, Shooting Star, Lucky Star, Falling Star, Rock Star, the North Star, and a constellation full of stars (the kids choir) as they anxiously watch the biggest announcement in history unfold – the birth of Jesus! Make plans now to be a part of this celebration.
On Saturday morning, November 13, 10 folks from Kenwood met at 8:00 at the church to divide up into teams for Mission to Hanover. They winterized two homes for Hanover residents by putting insulating plastic on windows and did yardwork. They were Christ’s hands and feet in our community.
Kenwood’s Parish Nurse, Barbara Huster, organized a Health Fair as a part of the Fall Festival on November 6 which included several different health care vendors. Free glucose and BMI screenings were done, and IVNA administered flu shots. Joyce Lachut also coordinated the sales of healthy soup, and Jill Matthews sold chances for a basket of Mary Kay products.
Kenwood’s First Annual Sprint to Serve 5K and Health Fair was Saturday, November 6. Thanks to the 70 runners and walkers who participated, all organizers and vendors!

On Saturday, November 6, Kenwood will host it’s First Annual Sprint to Serve 5K Race. The race will include 5K Walk/Run, a 1 Mile Walk/Run and a Kids’s 1/2 Mile Run (12 and under). The 5K will be followed by a Health Fair, including an IVNA Flu Clinic, and other vendors. All proceeds will benefit our Summer 2011 Family Mission Trip.
