Holy Week at Kenwood

March 27, 2012

Join us for worship during Holy Week, April 1-8, as we remember the sacred events of the last week of Christ’s earthly life.

On Palm Sunday, April 1, at 10:00 am, we will remember  Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem when he was hailed as an earthly king, a title he rejected.

On Thursday evening, April 5, at 7:00 pm, we will share in a special service for Maundy Thursday, remembering Jesus’ last meal with his disciples and his betrayal in the Garden of Gethsemane.

For Good Friday, April 6, the sanctuary will be open for prayer (10:00 am – 12:00 pm, 2:00 – 4:00 pm & 6:00 – 8:00 pm) as you prepare your hearts and minds for the joyous Easter message.

And on Easter Sunday, April 8, we will share in Sunrise Worship at the Kenwood Cemetery at 7:00 am, with breakfast provided at 9:00 am, worship at 10:00 am and then an Easter Egg Hunt for children at 11:00 am.

Good Friday Prayers

March 27, 2012

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2:24)

Kenwood’s Sanctuary will be open for prayer on Good Friday, April 6, between the hours of 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, 2:00 – 4:00 pm and  6:00 – 8:00 pm. We welcome you, the members and friends of the congregation, to come and go as you feel led during those hours.  We hope that this time of prayer and reflection will be a blessing for you and that it will help prepare your hearts and minds to receive the good news of the resurrection.  If you have questions or would like more information, please contact Josie Nicholls (752-6364).

Outreach Meeting – Part 2!

March 8, 2012

Led by Faith to Love, Learn and SERVE!

In February, we held Outreach Interest meetings to begin to brainstorm where we want to take Kenwood’s Outreach and what the Mission Field will look and feel like in 2012.  Many great ideas were generated, but in order for Kenwood to truly serve those in our community and around the world, we need your help to narrow down our selections.

Please plan to join us on Sunday, March 18, at 9:00 am to review some of the ideas and vote for those that you feel we at Kenwood should focus our energy on.  We want and need your opinion to ensure that not only we have your support, but that you also feel it provides an opportunity for ALL AGES to participate in service activities.  If you have any questions or to confirm your interest in attending, contact Debra at thew8s@comcast.net or at  752-7953.

50 Days of Prayer

March 8, 2012

The United Methodist General Conference (Pastor Beth is an alternate to it) which meets in late April is asking for prayers during this important time.  A link to an online program called 50 Days of Prayer is below. We encourage you to participate in this opportunity to support our Conference with prayers asking God to bless those who participate and the decisions they will be making. It offers a daily scripture to read and ponder.   Please consider making this a part of your daily prayer time.

From the General Conference: “We want God to lead and shape the future of The United Methodist Church. This guide will allow us to actively support the spiritual preparation needed before the General Conference and intercede faithfully during the ten days of the Conference. The kingdom of God comes through prayer and discernment. Through use of this resource, we unite in prayer for God’s will to be done in God’s way and in God’s time.”
