Children’s Pageant Packs the House
December 24, 2008On Sunday evening, December 21, the sanctuary filled with people of all ages to experience A Shepherd’s Story. The actors, playing shepherds in Bethlehem, entered herding their sheep–the youngest of our children. The sheep were quite content to be sheeply for the duration of the show. Music was provided by the Children’s Choir, who did an excellent job sharing the story through song. Afterward, people joined together for a light supper, and about 20 people went Christmas Caroling in CedarLea.
A Shepherd’s Story
December 5, 2008On Sunday, December 21 at 5:00 p.m., Kenwood’s Children’s Ministries present A Shepherd’s Story, a Christmas pageant about the shepherds who were the first to hear the good news of Christ’s birth. Our Children’s Choir will be joined by other readers for this celebration. We invite you to come, and to bring finger food to share after the pageant. Then we will travel to Cedar Lea for some Christmas Caroling to finish out the evening. Make plans now to be a part of this celebration.
Pray for Ministries with Young People
November 3, 2008Kenwood’s Administrative Council, meeting on November 2, spent their Nurturing Spiritual Leaders Time (a time for Council to learn together) discussing Kenwood’s ministries with teens in middle and high school. Acknowledging that a new model is needed, leaders began to think about holistic family ministries as a vision for the future. As we move forward, one thing was clear: as a church we need to pray for this age group. Therefore we, as leaders, invite you to join us in this prayer:
God, reveal to us your direction for ministries with young people at Kenwood. Help us to think creatively and in a visionary way about how you are calling us to be church. Enable us to lift up leaders for these ministries. And keep the young people of our community before us. Reveal to us their needs and concerns. Help us to listen, and then to respond with compassion and grace. Amen.
Higher Ground: For Students In Grades 5-8
October 22, 2008No longer are you kids—now you’re growing, reaching and stretching. But, at Kenwood, we know it is still important to have a safe space where we can grow, reach and stretch together. That’s why there’s Higher Ground. It’s a place where you can have fun with one another, talk about how life is changing, and serve God together.
Higher Ground usually meets two Sunday evenings each month during the school year from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. in Kenwood’s Education Building.
Higher Ground Meals
Each night Higher Ground meets, a meal will be provided by Kenwood for the low cost of $1 for children, or $2 for adults. Meals will be simple: pizza, sandwiches, mac and cheese, etc. Reservations need to be made by the Thursday prior to the meeting so that we have enough food. You may also make a standing reservation for the fall or spring months.
