Kenwood’s Sunday evening programs for children will resume September 25!
KidZone (preschool through 2nd grade) and God’s Pride (grades 3-5) will meet on two Sunday evenings each month for Christian education, fellowship and fun, and dinner. Please check out our calendar for specific dates. As in the past, children should arrive at 5:00 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:00 pm and we ask that parents pick up their children no later than 6:30 pm. Our overarching theme this year will be “What If…Church Left the Building?” Our focus with the children will be on taking what we learn in small groups and church into the world to serve our community. The staff and volunteers are excited about our plans and getting back to these fun learning opportunities for Kenwood’s kids! If you have questions, please contact Rhonda at rhonda@kenwoodumchurch.org or 798-7444.
Acolytes have been part of the church in one form or another for over 2,000 years. They are an important part of the worship service because they bring the light of Christ into the worship service, and take it out into the world as the congregation leaves.
At Kenwood, children and youth second grade and older are invited to become acolytes. A training which teaches the symbolism and ritual of acolyting, as well as the mechanics, is offered each fall. This fall’s training will be Sunday, September 25 at 6:30 pm. It will last about 30 minutes. A parent or guardian should attend with their child.
Questions? Contact Pastor Beth, or Debbie Duty, Worship Ministries Chair.
Children’s Choir (for those in Kindergarten through 5th grade) will resume on Sunday, September 25. If your child would like to sing during worship and participate in the Christmas Pageant, he/she is invited to attend! Children’s Choir practice is from 4:00-5:00 p.m. (in the Choir Room) on the Sundays that KidZone and God’s Pride meet. Check our calendar for specific dates.
This year, the children will be led by Wendy Malamphy who is new to Kenwood. Wendy has led the Cherub Choir at Reveille UMC for many years and is very excited to share her love of music with the children of Kenwood. This promises to be a wonderful experience for the children as they “make a joyful noise unto the Lord!”
