Your clippings help in purchasing classroom supplies!
Don’t let your collection of “Box Tops for Education” sit around in a pile and expire! The next collection will be taken to Elmont School in mid-February so that the school can receive their check in the spring. Gather all your clippings and bring them in by Sunday, Feb. 9! Since 1996, the “Box Tops for Education” program has helped schools across America earn cash for the things they need. Each “Box Tops” coupon is worth 10¢ for each school. In continuing support of our local Elmont Elementary School, Kenwood’s congregation has been collecting the “Box Tops” which have and will assist the school to help the teachers with needed supplies for their classrooms. Look for these “Box Tops” labels on hundreds of food and products, cut them out, & bring them in. “Box Tops” collection basket remains on the table in the sanctuary foyer. UPDATE: Traditional Box Tops clips are being phased out of production, but may continue to be found on many products throughout stores. Eventually, the Box Tops program will become digital-only. Participating brands are starting to change their packaging from a traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Top label. If you see the new label, use the new Box Tops app to scan your receipt on your phone. The app will find participating products purchased at any store and instantly add cash to the school’s earnings online. For more information, visit the web at Contact Debbie Duty at or (804) 798-5191, if you have questions. Thank you for your continuing support.

Kenwood Kruisers Day Trip!

Norfolk, Virginia – Thursday, April 30, 2020
Make plans right now to reserve your space!

The Tattoo Tradition—The term “tattoo” derives from the cries of the 17th and 18th century Low Country innkeepers in Scotland, who, as the fifes and drums of the local regiment signaled a return to the quarters would cry, “Doe den tap toe”(meaning “turn off the taps!” The Virginia International Tattoo incorporates groups from countries around the world including acrobats, choral groups and precision military drill teams. This is an impressive, exciting and entertaining “parade of nations”. This is an all-inclusive trip with motor coach transportation, driver gratuity, snacks on the bus, door prizes, show admission, dinner at the Golden Coral Restaurant, Norfolk – all-you-can eat dinner buffet and all gratuities included. The cost is $137 per person. Seating is limited as this is a popular event each year! Complete your registration and send in your check as soon as possible. Registration and information is located in the Narthex. Give, or mail, your registration form along with your check to: Linda Andrews, 11399 Karen Drive, Ashland, VA 23005.

Youth Group Now Meeting

Diverse group of kids sitting in a row reading books

Kenwood welcomes Hannah Doty, our new Children and Youth Ministry Leader. Beginning January 19th, Hannah will meet with the youth group on the 1st & 3rd Sundays after worship. Our youth group is open to people from ages 11 to 19.

As we move forward to support this Youth Group, we encourage our loving Kenwood folks to shower Hannah and the children with love! Home cooked items are a wonderful way to show your love!! We are seeking people willing to supply or support food when they meet (the 1st & 3rd Sunday of each month from 11:15-12:15). If you would like to pick a Sunday in a month and let the office know you are willing to help feed our kids, it would certainly be appreciated. In the meantime, when you see Hannah, give her a warm “Kenwood” welcome! – Pastor Lisa

This is a slow paced study – one in which you can join at any time without feeling as if you need to catch up. Please let Pastor Lisa or Judy Lanzillotti know if you plan to join our group. Thank you! – Pastor Lisa & Judy Lanzillotti

Measuring Mission & Ministry

Examples: food ministries, mission teams, habitat for humanity, disaster response, tutoring, meals on wheels, crocheting prayer shawls, shelter volunteer, helping to feed the homeless, etc. When you complete your task(s) that week, please be sure to place your stone in the jar on Sunday (located in Narthex). This is an allowed trackable item within the UMC statistical tracking program. Find a way to make a difference! One stone per person per week please. Thank you!– Pastor Lisa

What is the Instant Church Directory App?

This is a free app that allows Kenwood members to sync our on-line directory to your iPhone, iPad Mini, iPod Touch, Android device or Kindle Fire.  Members will be able to view the church and staff information, as well as search and view family members.  You will also be able to call, email or text if a phone number or email address is available in the directory.  Any changes that are made to the Instant Church Directory On-line, will automatically download to your devices, ensuring you always have the most recent updated version of the directory.

Who can Access the app?

Anyone who has an email address listed in the directory (under their family details) will be able to request access to download and sync the directory on their device.  Each member will receive a password per device, which cannot be shared with other members.  Furthermore, all of the data is protected by SSL, so only members and staff will have access to your church data.  Some members have requested that their picture and/or address not be included in the on-line directory.  Consequently, they will not be able to access the church app.

How can I access the app?

Call or email the secretary at the church office (798-7444 or during normal business hours (Tuesday Thursday or Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.) to send you the document with the app hyperlinks to whatever the address is where you want to download the app.  If you have a problem downloading or using this app, please contact Dwight Huster (804-308-2248).
