Pastor Appreciation Month!

October is Pastor Appreciation Month! I know our Kenwood family is supportive of our Pastor all year long, but during this month consider saying an extra prayer, sharing an encouraging word, or doing something special to remind Pastor Lisa how valuable she is to us! Thank you for your continued love and support! – Kathy Day, SPRC Chair

Evil and the Justice of God

Beginning next Sunday, Oct. 20th, our Sunday Small Group will begin exploring the book: Evil and the Justice Of God by N. T. Wright. This book has many good practical elements. The problem of evil is at the center of our faith. Wright takes this subject, which is often reduced to philosophical intricacies, and opens it up for all who wish to hear the good news that God has come, and is coming, to put the world to rights. Come and join us after worship! – Pastor Lisa

Kenwood Charge Conference

Charge Conference is Tuesday, Nov. 5th at 7 p.m.! During the Charge Conference, the council members discuss and vote on how our church will function in the coming year. They will finalize the budget and confirm leadership positions. Additionally, conversation will begin regarding goal setting for next year’s ministry as we carry out the mission of the church. All council members should be in attendance and all parishioners are invited to attend. Finger foods and beverages will be provided. We are asking for volunteers to provide a dish or tray. A sign-up sheet will be in the narthex each Sunday through October 29th. If you have any questions, please contact Shana Morse by email at: or call her at 804-303-1667. Thank you!

“Grow In Grace” Lunch Bunch

Join us every Thursday from 11a.m. to Noon, in the Education Building. You do not have to attend all the classes – simply show up and be part of interesting discussions on the bible and theology. Afterwards, we go to lunch and “critique” restaurants around town! The current book, The Ragamuffin Gospel, goes thru 10/31. Come, join in the fun, whenever you can!

In John 10:3, Jesus tells us that his followers hear his voice and he calls them by name. Kenwood name tags will be available for the congregation in the foyer of the church.
Research has shown that wearing name tags for worship creates a more friendly atmosphere and invites conversation. It makes visitors feel more welcome and helps us learn the names of those who are new to the church. When you arrive, you will find your name tag in a tray as you enter the foyer. Names are in alphabetical order by your last name. If you do not see your name and would like a tag, please print your name on the sheet provided.
Before you leave, please BE SURE to REMOVE your name tag and place it back in the tray. We pray that you will wear your Kenwood name tag proudly and that it will bring blessings to our congregation and guests.

What is the Instant Church Directory App?

This is a free app that allows Kenwood members to sync our on-line directory to your iPhone, iPad Mini, iPod Touch, Android device or Kindle Fire.  Members will be able to view the church and staff information, as well as search and view family members.  You will also be able to call, email or text if a phone number or email address is available in the directory.  Any changes that are made to the Instant Church Directory On-line, will automatically download to your devices, ensuring you always have the most recent updated version of the directory.

Who can Access the app?

Anyone who has an email address listed in the directory (under their family details) will be able to request access to download and sync the directory on their device.  Each member will receive a password per device, which cannot be shared with other members.  Furthermore, all of the data is protected by SSL, so only members and staff will have access to your church data.  Some members have requested that their picture and/or address not be included in the on-line directory.  Consequently, they will not be able to access the church app.

How can I access the app?

Call or email the secretary at the church office (798-7444 or during normal business hours (Tuesday Thursday or Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.) to send you the document with the app hyperlinks to whatever the address is where you want to download the app.  If you have a problem downloading or using this app, please contact Dwight Huster (804-308-2248).
