Small Groups – New Book Starts March 1st.

Starting Mar.1st, we will begin studying Anatomy of Peace (2nd Ed) by the Arbinger Institute. What if, in our conflicts with others, there is something we want more than solutions? What if, individually and collectively, we systematically misunderstand the causes of our conflicts? And what if, therefore, we unwittingly perpetuate the very problems we think we are trying to solve? Please consider joining us.  See Pastor Lisa for a copy of the book ($10). Then read the preface & all of Part 1. And if you can’t make it today, get the book and join us next week!

Studying the Good Book!

Kenwood’s Thursday Lunch Bunch Bible Study Group meets every Thursday at 11 a.m. The group is “Walking through the Bible”. This is a slow paced study – one in which you can join at any time without feeling as if you need to catch up. Join us for great discussions and enlightening conversation! Bring a friend! Please let Pastor Lisa or Judy Lanzillotti know if you’d like to join us!

Be Prepared! Scout Sunday is March 8th!

Calling all scouts to come and worship with us! This is a special time of year in which we can all recognize the youth in our church and community and how they are becoming the voice of tomorrow. Let’s honor and celebrate each and everyone of them. Join us on Sunday, March 15th at 10:00 a.m.

This month the Youth Group will meet March 1st and March 22nd after Worship

Third Thursday Table Talk

Want to be informed about what is happening at General Conference and the different resolutions being presented? This group, named “Third Thursday Table Talk” will meet every 3rd Thursday of the month, beginning March 19th and continue into June. We will begin with a light meal at 6:30 pm in the fellowship hall and transition to conversation about who we are and where we see ourselves in the midst of the struggle. We will discuss the various submitted resolutions and the impact they may have for you and Kenwood. Together, I hope we can find a healthy, Christian path forward. This will be a safe space, in which we use active listening skills, and where compassion and love are present. The Table Talk group will close at 8:30 p.m. with Communion. – In Christ’s Love, Pastor Lisa

Measuring Mission & Ministry

Have you been working for the Lord this week? If so, please put a stone in the jar so we can track our progress in furthering God’s kingdom. Examples: food ministries, mission teams, habitat for humanity, disaster response, tutoring, meals on wheels, crocheting prayer shawls, shelter volunteer, helping to feed the homeless, etc. When you complete your task(s) that week, please be sure to place your stone in the jar on Sunday (located in Narthex). This is an allowed trackable item within the UMC statistical tracking program. Find a way to make a difference! One stone per person per week please. Thank you!– Pastor Lisa

Your clippings help in purchasing classroom supplies!
Don’t let your collection of “Box Tops for Education” sit around in a pile and expire! Since 1996, the “Box Tops for Education” program has helped schools across America earn cash for the things they need. Each “Box Tops” coupon is worth 10¢ for each school. In continuing support of our local Elmont Elementary School, Kenwood’s congregation has been collecting the “Box Tops” which have and will assist the school to help the teachers with needed supplies for their classrooms. Look for these “Box Tops” labels on hundreds of food and products, cut them out, & bring them in. “Box Tops” collection basket remains on the table in the sanctuary foyer. UPDATE: Traditional Box Tops clips are being phased out of production, but may continue to be found on many products throughout stores. Eventually, the Box Tops program will become digital-only. Participating brands are starting to change their packaging from a traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Top label. If you see the new label, use the new Box Tops app to scan your receipt on your phone. The app will find participating products purchased at any store and instantly add cash to the school’s earnings online. For more information, visit the web at Contact Debbie Duty at or (804) 798-5191, if you have questions. Thank you for your continuing support.

What is the Instant Church Directory App?

This is a free app that allows Kenwood members to sync our on-line directory to your iPhone, iPad Mini, iPod Touch, Android device or Kindle Fire.  Members will be able to view the church and staff information, as well as search and view family members.  You will also be able to call, email or text if a phone number or email address is available in the directory.  Any changes that are made to the Instant Church Directory On-line, will automatically download to your devices, ensuring you always have the most recent updated version of the directory.

Who can Access the app?

Anyone who has an email address listed in the directory (under their family details) will be able to request access to download and sync the directory on their device.  Each member will receive a password per device, which cannot be shared with other members.  Furthermore, all of the data is protected by SSL, so only members and staff will have access to your church data.  Some members have requested that their picture and/or address not be included in the on-line directory.  Consequently, they will not be able to access the church app.

How can I access the app?

Call or email the secretary at the church office (798-7444 or during normal business hours (Tuesday Thursday or Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.) to send you the document with the app hyperlinks to whatever the address is where you want to download the app.  If you have a problem downloading or using this app, please contact Dwight Huster (804-308-2248).
